Your Money Has More Protection Than You Think
Your savings deserve an extra layer of protection.
When you think about keeping your money safe, you probably think about passwords, account alerts and fraud protection. But did you know your deposits at Journey Credit Union have an additional layer of protection, too?
What Is Share Insurance?
As a federally insured credit union, Journey Credit Union members receive NCUA share insurance on eligible deposits, similar to the FDIC insurance offered by banks. NCUA insurance provides coverage of up to $250,000 for qualifying accounts.
But at Journey, your protection doesn’t stop there.
What Is Excess Share Insurance?
Journey Credit Union provides Excess Share Insurance (ESI) at no additional cost to eligible members. ESI provides additional coverage above the standard $250,000 NCUA limit.
That means eligible deposits can have at least $1 million in total coverage:
$250,000 NCUA Coverage
+ $750,000 Excess Share Insurance
= $1,000,000+ in Total Coverage
That’s an added layer of peace of mind for members who maintain larger balances.
Why Does It Matter?
Whether you’re building your savings, managing a business account, keeping funds in a share certificate or simply have a larger balance, it’s important to understand how your money is protected.
Your coverage can depend on factors such as your account type and ownership structure. Journey offers a Share Insurance Estimator to help you better understand the coverage available for your specific accounts.
Protection That Comes With Your Journey
You don’t have to enroll or pay extra for Excess Share Insurance. It’s simply another benefit of being a Journey Credit Union member.
Your money matters to us, and we’re committed to helping you save, plan and feel confident about your financial future.
